Be natural

As we all know, cosmetics is one of the key industries that uses chemicals in a drastic manner. But fighting against all the odds, this woman from Kerala has crafted an exceptional success story in herbal cosmetics. Bindu Balachandran is always one step ahead in her industry with Krishna’s Organic Herbal Products.

She always banks on her Lord to survive the difficulties in life, for her Krishna is all about positive energy. “Lord Krishna is the real CEO of my company,” Bindu Hare Krishna says.

Fondly known as Bindu Hare Krishna, because of her passion and love towards Lord Krishna, she changed the general notion that only national and international brands deliver quality when it comes to cosmetics.

She always banks on her Lord to survive the difficulties in life, for her Krishna is all about positive energy. “Lord Krishna is the real CEO of my company,” Bindu Hare Krishna says.

Based in Vanchiyoor near Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala, Bindu Hare Krishna has given a new dimension to the cosmetic industry in the state. Started as a small-scale enterprise, her Krishna’s Organic Herbal Products has become one of the inspirational success stories in the MSME sector.

Bindu described herself an accidental entrepreneur. Trapped into a circle of depression because of personal issues Bindu forced into entrepreneurship for her self-satisfaction.

She struggled with excessive hair fall and marks on her face during the days of depression. It was then she started experimenting with formulations in her own home, polished her skills in preparing herbal hair oil to rejuvenate herself. “The results were phenomenal as I could see that my hair became smooth and strong. This really built up my confidence.”

“I need to find out something for my own happiness. That was really a tough period in my life. But starting a business happened to be the much-needed turnaround,” Bindu tells Business Voice.

Bindu started her career as a Human Resource manager with ICICI Prudential. After her marriage, she left the job. Because of the stress due to a terrible period in life she was affected with deep sun tan. Her face was full of tan. No treatments worked out, and then came the Eureka moment.

Bindu started her own research in cosmetics and found out remedy for her tan. The Orange fairness oil cured her tan. And finally, she decided to study a course in Cosmetology from Bombay. After that, completed many courses in cosmetology from India and abroad.

But she first started her entrepreneurial journey with egg-less cake making. Then turned into organic herbal cosmetics. “The markets are full of chemical-based cosmetic products. I wish to set a new benchmark,” she says. Bindu learnt the art of hair oil production from her husband. That was a purely organic, natural product. “Indeed, my husband was my first Guru.”

100% natural

Krishna Bringha Hair Oil was the first cosmetic she made. “Our products are 100 % natural. All products are hand-made, and safe and tested. Our cosmetic materials are coming from Bombay, Kashmir, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, and Kolkata. Some products are from abroad. The herbs and essential oils are directly collecting from farmers. We don’t use any harmful chemicals or preservatives in our products,” she says with confidence.

“We don’t add any Phthalate-based fragrances in our products. We only use essential oils. Even our lipsticks are made with FDA-certified lip safe pigments.” says Bindu Hare Krishna.

Several studies prove that chemicals like parabens and phthalates affect developing reproductive systems, cause hormonal imbalances, and disrupt mammary development.

Along with Krishna Bringha Hair Oil, Bindu sells a variety of products that include black turmeric and shanku pushpi soap, Manjal soap, sun tan face pack, organic lipstick, orange face massage oil, kumkumaadi thailam, bringha herbal shampoo…to name a few.

I truly believe that we have it in us to deliver the best organic products of great quality. Customer satisfaction is the most important factor,” she concludes.
